Additional Information

The time range of use of the key is only approximate and may be extended in the future. It was determined for the years in which the key was certainly used according to the existing knowledge. It can be documented that the key was certainly used until February 1720 for the correspondence of Leopold Viktorin von Windischgrätz with the Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI. Thereafter probably for Windischgrätz's correspondence with The Privy Conference. But there were probably also other yet unidentified users.
The inscription on the reverse: Ziffer Schlüßel mit der Geheimen Hoff-Canzleÿ
